                  EMDR Resource Center of Michigan

                  Picture
The EMDR Resource Center of Michigan was founded in 2002 to bring quality EMDR educational experiences to EMDR clinicians in the State of Michigan.  It is directed by Zona Scheiner, Ph.D,  and Bennet Wolper, LMSW, founding members of Family Therapy Associates of Ann Arbor. Since our inception we have sponsored many of the leading clinicians and thinkers in EMDR, including: Janine Fisher, Ph.D, Carol Forgash, LCSW, Ana Gomez MC, LPC, Barry Litt, MFT, Deborah Korn, Psy.D., Gerald Puk, Ph.D, Nancy Smyth, Ph.D, Robert Tinker, Ph.D, Deborah Wesselman, MS, LPC, Marcia Whisman, LCSW, and Sandra Wilson, Ph.D.

Our mission has been to ensure that Michigan EMDR trained clinicians have opportunities for high quality advanced training experiences in EMDR.  We are expanding that mission to now include providing high - quality EMDR Basic training programs to Licensed Michigan Mental Health Practitioners.  On this website you will learn about how to enroll in an EMDRIA Approved Basic Training program, in an intimate, local setting with Francine Shapiro, Ph.D.-trained local trainers.

This Basic Training Program, offered twice a year for up to 20 clinicians each time, is the first EMDR Institute Regional Training to be held in the State of Michigan.  Each cycle will provide opportunities that include:

                  • Seven days plus four hours additional consultation over a several month period for extended learning opportunities
                  • The ten required consultation hours embedded in the training
                  • The same local trainers throughout the training
                  • The opportunity to meet with their fellow participants in peer groups between the training weekends.
This format allows students to develop an enhanced learning relationship with each of the same instructors.  Material is taught at participants’ pace.  In that fashion, individual differences can be attended to, safety and support  in the program developed and individual student’s needs identified and attended to without sacrifice to the teaching of the required concepts and skills.

For full details about this program, including dates, registration information, fees, etc., please go to the Training Pages.  Included in these pages is information and updates for our current Trainees as well.

The EMDR Resource Center of Michigan will still continue to offer Advanced Training Opportunities in EMDR.   These workshops will expand, refresh and revitalize the clinical skills of EMDR trained clinicians and continue to provide their professional CEU’s for licensure and credentialing.  For more information about our current and future offerings, please check the Advanced Training Pages.

For both our own trainees and for those who have received their trainings elsewhere, we will continue to offer group and individual consultation, for Basic Training, Certification, and Approved Consultant requirements, as well as consultation for those who just want to keep honing and deepening their clinical  skills.  For more information please check the Consultation Pages.

If you would like to be kept informed of our ongoing activities, please contact either Zona or Bennet
                  with your email address included.
